On the Doorsteps: Matt Connects with Neighbors Across Icemeadow, Indigo, Inglewood, and the O Section

Matt

This past week, Matt spent time out in the community, knocking on doors throughout Icemeadow, Indigo, Inglewood, and the O section. It was a great stretch of conversations, and we came away energized by the honesty, humor, and hope so many residents shared about our town.

One topic came up again and again: the higher tax bill many households recently received from Aberdeen Forward. Residents are paying close attention, and a growing number have been turning to our app to better understand what's happening at the local level and what it means for their families and budgets.

What struck Matt most was how ready people are for real solutions. Rather than more of the same, neighbors want to see genuine progress on growing our local economy. There's a strong sense that a healthier, more vibrant local economy is the key to easing the tax burden on residents over the long term, rather than short-term fixes that don't address the root of the problem.

These conversations reinforced why Aberdeen Together exists: to listen first, and to build solutions with our neighbors rather than for them. We're grateful to everyone who took a few minutes out of their day to talk with Matt, ask questions, and share what matters most to them.

We'll keep showing up on doorsteps across town in the weeks ahead. If you'd like to share your thoughts or learn more about what's happening in Aberdeen, check out our Facebook page or reach out. Every conversation helps shape a better path forward for our community.
